Ion Trap RF Drives

HF-drive trapping field generators create a sinus-shaped output voltage at high amplitudes and high frequencies. They feature a fast-turn-on/off capability to capture ions in flight.

The QUAD rotating wall drive sustains a rotating dipole or quadrupole electrical field inside a Penning ion trap. The resulting electrodynamic “rotating wall” enables fast compression of big ion clouds loaded into the trap.
